Friday Finances: An Amway Millionaire's 7 Keys to Success

Key 1: Work hard at something you believe in: "It’s easy to have an idea. But it’s another thing to commit time and effort to it," writes millionaire salesman and motivational speaker Terry Felber. "There are a lot of great ideas and if we allow the negative influences of others to stop us, then we will never accomplish anything. The truth is, most people are always ‘waiting to begin,’ but few ever actually get on the pathway to success." Felber is an Amway "Founders Executive Diamond" who over the last three decades built a sales organization of more than 50,000 people.

Key 2: Financial prosperity is often connected to soul prosperity: "Jesus tells us to seek first the kingdom of God, and then all these things will be added to you," writes Felber in his book The Legend of the Monk and the Merchant. "God says it this way, ‘Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.’ That means that if you are delighting in Him, seeking after Him and honoring Him, His desires will naturally become your desires. Yes, God wants you to have everything your heart desires as long as you are focused first on Him. Remember, though, that God measures our hearts and knows our motives. We must love Him for who He is, not for what He can give us."

Key 3: A man must do whatever he can to provide for his family: Felber continues: God compares a man who does not provide for his family with someone who has denied the faith. He considers him worse than an unbeliever. You must be able to take care of her before you marry her. And once you are married, you must do whatever it takes to provide for her.

Key 4: Trials develop your character, preparing you for in creased blessings: When trials comes know that God is preparing you for greatness. This may be one of the most important tests of your character that you’ll ever encounter. Remember that one of the big misunderstandings we have of God is that when difficulty arises, He is closing a door. No. More often He is preparing you for something special. Remember this.

Key 5: Don’t displace the blame. Take responsibility for problems that are the result of your own bad decisions. We sometimes credit circumstances to God or the enemy, when really it is simple cause and effect.

Key 6: See challenges as stepping stones, not as obstacles: Things will go wrong and when they do, you can use this opportunity to strengthen your business, if you decide to. Be prepared for worst case scenarios and then when they come, take it as a positive challenge to make an improvement.

Key 7: Be meek before God, but bold before men: God wants us to be kind. But He has designed you the way He has for a reason. God wants you to live to please Him, more than to please people. You should focus on being meek before God, but bold before men.
